1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Resume Candle ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Resume Candle analyses how well a resume matches a job description using an AI model, and returns a match score, keyword breakdown, and written feedback. The Service is provided for informational purposes to help you prepare job applications.

3. Eligibility & Account Registration

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. Accounts are managed through our authentication provider, Clerk, which supports email sign-up with verification and Google sign-in. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

4. Subscriptions, Billing & Cancellation

Paid plans (including the Job Hunter plan) and one-time credit top-ups are billed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise recurring charges until you cancel. Subscription changes and cancellations are managed through the Stripe Billing Portal, accessible from your account.

• Plan credits reset monthly on your billing renewal date and do not carry over.
• Top-up credits never expire and are used after your monthly plan credits.
• Cancelling a subscription takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep access to your plan and its credits until then, after which your account reverts to the free plan. Any unused top-up credits are preserved.
• Fees are non-refundable except where required by law.

5. Free Plan Usage Limits

Free accounts receive a limited number of gap analyses per day. This allowance resets daily and does not carry over. We may adjust free-plan limits at our discretion.

6. User Content & License

You retain ownership of the resume and job description text you submit ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant us a limited licence to process it solely to provide the Service, including sending it to our AI processing provider for analysis.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the Service, including but not limited to: attempting to circumvent usage limits or billing, submitting content that is unlawful or infringes on others' rights, or interfering with the Service's operation or security.

8. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Analyses, scores, and suggestions are generated by an AI model and may contain inaccuracies. The Service does not guarantee any particular match score, interview outcome, or employment result, and does not constitute professional career, hiring, or legal advice. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated content before relying on it.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, branding, and underlying software, is owned by Resume Candle and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time by contacting us.

11. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Resume Candle is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including outcomes related to job applications or hiring decisions.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
